Michael Jordan wins appeal battle

An Illinois Appellate Court ruled for Michael Jordan in a five year battle with Karla Knafel about previous ruling in July 2006. In ‘06 the decision was reached that an agreement of a $5 million hush payout was “unenforceable” and “voidable”.

In 2002, Michael Jordan sued Karla Knafel for attempted extortion. She claimed that he promised to pay her $5 million when he retired from the NBA to keep an affair they had secret and not to file a paternity lawsuit. Jordan stated in the suit that she agreed to $250,000 to remain quiet AFTER it was found he wasn’t the father.

Knafel's attorney, said he planned to submit paperwork for the Illinois Supreme Court to consider an appeal.
