So I was over at Concrete Loop and I see a video by artist Kid Sister f/ Kanye called “Pro Nails.” Do a little research and find out she is a Chicago native. Born Melissa Young, she started rapping a year and half ago. Tired of the everyday hustle she decided to see what it do. What it does?? A lot with her brother the DJ J2K. For me she takes it back to the old school Chicago feel: house music, foot working and fast rhyming a la Twista and Crucial Conflict. Listening to her music via her myspace. I learn she is the infamous voice behind “Shake and Pop” a house song played regularly on WGCI here in Chicago. Billboard article on her HERE
