Barack and the Iowa caucus

AP photo

Wednesday the race for the Iowa caucus closed with statewide television appearances from all candidates, including Barack Obama.

"This country is ready for a leader who will bring us together. That's the only way we're going to win this election. And that's how we'll actually fix health care, make college affordable, become energy independent and end this war,” he stated in his commercial.

The Iowa caucus is commonly recognized as the first step in the United States Presidential nomination process for both the Democrats and the Republicans. The caucuses are closely followed by the media and can be an important factor in determining who remains in the race and who drops out. (wikipedia)
