The Diz laid off from WGCI

Left to right=The Diz with Sammie and ex WGCI host Mike Luv

If you haven’t noticed “The Diz” was laid off at WGCI and replaced by Leon Rogers. Diz co-host, Frankie Robinson remains. The reasoning behind The Diz cut as well as several other Chicago radio personalities and engineers are Clear Channel shifting its resources to Internet and sale ventures.

Personally I haven’t listened to WGCI in a long time due to Crazy Howard leaving, outdated music played plus the lack of originally by the station. Changes could be felt after Elroy Smith left as program director. Clear Channel decision is evident of a sign of the times with HD and satellite radio becoming popular.

I typically listen to GCi more during the morning hours and after 8 pm. This past week I noticed that Leon was no longer on doing traffic so I checked and saw that he was still listed as one of the personalties on gci. However I did not know that he had replaced the Diz until this evening. I think that replacing the Diz with Leon has nothing to do with interent radio especailly since doing so meant tehy had to replace Leon on the mornings. I think that clear channel needs a reality check.

most def... it has nothing to do with internet its about money. you know Diz was getting a lot and Leon is a semi-rookie who will take lower pay (my opinion), so they go for the cheap and easy. Like I said its all gone downhill since Elroy left. I noticed that

GCI has fallen off for real since Elroy left. I used to like the station. I hope their ratings go down like Lewinski

WGCI has became so ghetto, country and ignorant. I had expected so much more from what was suppose to be Chicago's largest black radio station. I celebrated when they fired Steve Harvey and Crazy Howard. Diz was cool, but it seems like radio is still on its downward spiral to crap. Why even bother with radio anymore. Stay up Mr B.
